Article: Fixing Unfair Britain...
Did you see Panorama a few weeks ago? It was great to see our client Barnsley Council and Councillor Stephen Houghton CBE on Panorama talking about Levelling Up, which focused on whether we can close the north/south divide by investing billions of pounds in high streets, transport links and skills. Check out 'Fixing Unfair Britain' on the BBC, it was very interesting!
Human Engine has been working with the talent at Barnsley to deliver projects which support businesses, communities, people into employment and investment in skills - as part of the Community Renewal Fund (CRF). The CRF programme was the forerunner to three available multi-£billion pots - Towns/Levelling Up (LUF2)/UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
The CRF programme has helped to address many of the issues Panorama raised, and we're delighted to be working with the team at Barnsley on their next application for LUF2.
To find out more about the programme of work, reach out to:
Ed Gurney - Principal Consultant Human Engine
Paul Clifford - Head of Economic Development
Kathy Mc Ardle - Service Director Regeneration and Culture

Going the Extra Mile
It's been a big month of giving back to good causes and personal records within the team.
Firstly, huge congratulations to Human Engines Tom Mills and the Trafford Tridents for completing their 21 Mile English Channel swim in 8 Hours 52 Minutes.
We are pleased to confirm this as the second-fastest 4-man ever and fastest channel crossing (of any sized team) since 2017! And only a few minutes short of the world record.
Tom and the team have raised a staggering £4,976 for the RNLI
We're proud of you!
Secondly, Ben Smith has raised £6,869 for Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity. Florence Nightingale Hospice provides a range of specialist palliative and end-of-life care services to people in Buckinghamshire and parts of Oxfordshire and south Bedfordshire who have life-limiting illnesses such as chronic lung conditions, cancer and neurological conditions. The total raised so far is equivalent to providing end-of-life care at home for 3 families, at a time when they need it most.
Ben and his friends and family 'The Menaces' are taking part in the 10-mile midnight walk in July. You can keep track of their journey here: https://www.justgiving.com/team/TheMenaces
Thank you!
A big thank you Susan Calthorpe(The Clive Davis Partnership Ltd) who recently delivered a one-day course for our Human Engine clients on writing successful bids. This could help those who joined unlock £millions in future funding proposals. Mark our words - They will!
It was fantastic to see many faces from across local government and charity organisations join us.
Delegates included:
